About SMART-Cities.net

CITYNET, the Regional Network of Local Authorities for the Management of Human Settlements, Green City Denmark and the Regional Institute of Environmental Technology (RIET) have teamed up to set up an online portal (http://www.smart-cities.net) that aims to enhance interaction between Asian-Pacific cities and European companies.

The project to set up a web portal for Asian cities to interact with environmental solutions and products providers was initiated to:

• Foster partnerships between Asian local governments and private companies particularly from Europe
• Promote sustainable development strategy
• Increase awareness among Asian local governments on environmental services, management and technology available
• Create more business opportunities for private companies in Asia
• Ensure representation and dissemination of environmental services, products and expertise on management and technology within local governments in Asia.

The site features:

• Comprehensive city profiles, with emphasis on environmental and investment infrastructures
• Current city demands and needs for environmental services and technology
• Relevant and timely information on available environmental services
• Real-time data on advanced, innovative technology, goods and services for enhancing environmental infrastructure
• Showcase applied environmental products and services featured in best practices or successful public-private partnerships
